Grant County Historical Society

| The general purpose of the Grant County Historical Society is to collect, preserve, research, publish and interpret the heritage of Grant County, Indiana, and thereby to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of our county's history, art and natural environment by all. |
| The Grant County Historical Society meets on the third Wednesday of each month, except for December, at 7:00 p.m. at Marion Public Library, Meeting Room B. Meetings feature programs about our community's local history and other related topics. Field trips are periodically scheduled, often in July. |
| Interest groups select an area for research to contribute to our local history record. Examples of interest group topics are Architecture, Genealogy, and One Room Schools. |
| The Grant County Genealogy Society merged with the Grant County Historical Society in 2003 to strengthen our effort to preserve both our individual histories and our community's collective memory. The genealogical record is vitally important in the context of our total history. |
| Artifacts collected by the Grant County Historical Society are leased to the Marion Public Library for museum display. The Museum is a department of Marion Public Library and is located in the historic Carnegie building at 600 South Washington Street, Marion. Society members volunteer as docents when there are traveling exhibits in the Museum. |
