PROCEDURES, POLICIES, & MORE
1. Is MPL open?
No. MPL closed March 18 and will remain closed until further notice.
2. Is the dropbox open?
No. Please keep your books, movies, audiobooks, interlibrary loan items, and anything else you checked out until MPL reopens.
3. My books and movies are past the due date. Will I be fined?
No. It’s impossible for you to return your materials – the dropbox is closed – so MPL will not fine you for that. Enjoy them longer on us.
4. What if I already had fines?
Any fines are frozen at the point they were when the library closed.
5. I don’t have internet. Can I use the MPL WiFi?
WiFi reaches into the parking lot behind the library. Stay in your car to avoid infecting others or become infected yourself. However, community travel restrictions will apply. If the police advise you to leave, please do so.
6. Can I still make requests for genealogy questions?
Indiana History staff will be checking requests regularly. However, staff has no access to microfilm, so requests relying on microfilm records will be delayed until MPL reopens. Send your request and staff will let you know if we can help at this time.
7. Can I place requests for interlibrary loan or library purchases?
ILL is shut down because there is no way to process orders. We will not be accepting requests at this time. Again, hold onto overdue ILL times until the library reopens. You may place requests for the library to buy books, DVDs, and more, though the library has no way of knowing when these materials will come into the library.
