MPL & COVID-19
MPL has re-opened with limited services and hours.
Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Now you can browse to pick your own books and movies. The computer lab - now on the 2nd floor - offers 30-minute appointments. The copier and fax machines are available. Indiana History is still fulfilling requests even though it will remain closed through June.
Limited occupancy: 25 people.
We ask you to wear masks (as we will), to keep at least 6 feet distance from others, and to stay home if you have symptoms or were exposed to someone who is sick.
What we will not have in June: Places to read and visit, physical newspapers to read, play areas, museum visits, Indiana History, meeting rooms, study rooms. The library has canceled all in-person library programs through June, and we will re-evaluate later events.
New content will be added continually on on the website under COVID-19 menu item at the top. Check out our FAQ - frequently asked questions - that we will update regularly. Our RESOURCES & NEWS features reports from local and state sources. Now there's STAYING HOME with a wide range of resources, from how to cook something from what's in your fridge and pantry.
We cannot accept donations of materials at this time.
The MPL Friends Book Sale will be rescheduled for a later date. Don't worry - we have plenty of Cool Stuff that you want.
All due dates, except for HotSpots, have been changed to June 16. No overdue fines will be charged for the time that we are closed. You might see that items you've returned appear to still be checked out for 2 days after you've returned them. These items are automatically in quarantine for 2 days. You will not be fined for that time, and you may check out as if you've returned these items.
Our thorough cleaning process uses both time and heat to thoroughly disinfect materials, and the building has been thoroughly cleaned. Staff is following a strict cleaning schedule throughout the day.
You can use the dropbox or come inside to return materials. Please pay attention to directions.
Curbside has been a huge hit. You may place items on hold, then a librarian will contact you for a time for pickup. You may also call in a request, though those orders are limited to 5 items. Phone: 765-668-2900, choose the circulation department
MPL has re-started interlibrary loans. Please return ILL items to circulation or the dropbox - notice the change - so we can quarantine materials.
No concerns about catching germs (or losing items or getting fines) with
digital checkouts. You can sit on your comfortable couch to use Overdrive, Libby, Tumblebooks, Hoopla, and we've increased the number of monthly Hoopla checkouts to 10 each month through May 31, plus it has free checkouts that won't count toward that total. We're also adding new services as they become available.
