CHILDREN'S

Lifetime learning

Marion Public Library welcomes children with developmentally suitable programs and materials, right down to kid-size furniture and equipment.

And, of course, fun.

Storytimes

Storytimes pair books with fun activities designed for babies through preschoolers. Bonus: They're a great way to work on social skills. Parents or caregivers join in the adventure.

Check the MPL calendar for updates - sometimes storytimes move to accommodate special programs.

Preschool Tales: Stories, songs, and activities for preschoolers ages 3-6. Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

Sensory Tales: Hands-on activities encourage creative play for preschoolers ages 3-6. Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Wee Tales: Books, movement, and music for infants-age 3. Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Sign up in Children's or call 765-668-2900, Ext. 1105.

Read to the Dogs lets children gain confidence in their reading out loud by pairing readers with therapy dogs - and it's fun to spend time with these friendly pooches. The library goes to the dogs at 5:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.

Computers

MPL has 2 sets of computers. The computers for school-age children allow for exploration, learning, and just having fun.

The early-literacy computers are geared toward our youngest visitors, with a mouse and keyboard just right for little hands, and playful programs that introduce early reading and math concepts.

Collections, cards, more

Find out more about what books and resources you can check out for children. Don't forget digital stories and movies such as long-time favorite TumbleBooks.

Also, learn about library cards for children, students who don't live in Marion yet go to school or preschool here, and cards for educators.

Speaking of educators, arrange field trips including a storytime, plus a tour of the library and museum. Or we can bring the books to the classroom.
